Following the dissolution of Cloud9 Tempest in 2015, Cloud9 Esports made a return to the Challenger scene during the NACS 2016 Summer Split. Throughout the year, Cloud9 Challenger, featuring promising talent like Balls, Contractz, Hai, and Licorice, to name a few, achieved noteworthy success. They secured first place in the NACS 2016 Summer Season and Summer Playoffs, along with a second-place finish in the Logitech G Challenge 2016 tournament. In early 2017, FlyQuest acquired Cloud9 Challenger, leading to our reentry into the Academy scene in 2018 under the name Cloud9 Academy.
