Cloud9 x JetBrains: Sky's the Limit Hackathon

Cloud9 and JetBrains delivered a developer-first hackathon celebrating the global hacker community through esports innovation. In collaboration with Riot Games, participants received exclusive access to official League of Legends and VALORANT game data to build esports-focused tools and programs. The experience was supported by a custom Devpost landing page, two months access for participants to the JetBrains All Products Pack and AI Ultimate – including JetBrains coding agent Junie, Cloud9-led office hours, and technical workshops with JetBrains engineers and GRID staff, showcasing JetBrains tools as essential technology for modern game development. The hackathon was viewed as an amazing success with over 2,000 registrants and a 7.8% submission conversion rate, compared to competitors 4.3%.

Exclusive Riot Data Access

The Cloud9 x JetBrains Sky's the Limit Hackathon offered a rare and valuable opportunity for participants to access official esports data for both League of Legends and VALORANT. Provided through a partnership with GRID, this data allowed contestants to build advanced applications such as comprehensive assistant coaches, automated scouting report generators, and AI drafting tools using the same caliber of information as used in professional competitive environments. Further supporting this initiative, participants were able to partake in dedicated office hours with data scientists from both Cloud9 and GRID.

Devpost Website

To facilitate the hackathon, Cloud9 partnered with Devpost to host a dedicated website serving hackathon participants. The platform provided a central hub for the competition, complete with custom URL, details of the hackathon rules, submission management, and further providing information on the $25,000 prize pool and varying categories for submission.
