As the LCS and NACS split endings draw nearer and now that rosters are firmly locked through the 2016 League of Legends World Championship, we at Cloud9 would like to share an update detailing the current status of our League of Legends players and staff.
First, we're happy to welcome Eric "Licorice" Ritchie to the Cloud9 Challenger roster as the substitute top laner. Having played on various amateur teams, including the Cloud9 Challenger Subteam (Sister Team to C9C), Eric was introduced to us through the initial Cloud9 Challenger tryout phase coordinated by Hai earlier this year.
With that being said, you may notice that Yoonjae "Rush" Lee is no longer hoisting the Cloud9 banners. A recent discussion with Yoonjae, who returned home to Korea just over a month ago, concluded in a mutual agreement to part ways. We wish him the absolute best and will miss our NA Kind Boy dearly.
Stepping back from the starting roster and into a substitute support position, Michael "Bunny FuFuu" Kurylo will look to shift his focus to streaming full-time. Michael will continue to live and work in the Cloud9 LCS house while remaining involved with the LCS roster in a supporting fashion.
Next, we'd like to welcome a new player to the Cloud9 LCS roster. Tristan "Zeyzal" Stidam, formerly of the Cloud9 Challenger Subteam, has joined the team in the substitute support role. Effective immediately, Tristan will begin working alongside our premier League of Legends roster in its day-to-day activities.
Beyond the player fold, we'd like to introduce Thomas "Thinkcard" Slotkin, formerly of Counter Logic Gaming and Enemy Esports, as the Cloud9 Challenger Head Coach. Originally playing in Rush's stead while he was away in Korea, Thomas synergized quickly with our NACS roster. Following Rush's initial return to the US, he stepped into a support staff role, analyzing and coaching for both the Challenger and Challenger Subteam rosters through the beginning of the split. As the split continued, he transitioned to coaching in a full capacity and you will see him on-stage during the pick/ban phases next week as Cloud9 Challenger takes on Team Liquid Academy in the NACS Summer Split Playoff Finals.
Finally, we'd like to formally introduce Jonathon "Platypus" McDaniel, who will be working across the Cloud9 League of Legends Division as a remote analyst for all active rosters.
